Stores in Japan started charging for plastic bags on July 1st.
My family take reusable bags when going shopping.
I may ask to shop after work from my wife,
so I always keep a reusable bag in my briefcase.
The amount of plastic waste in the ocean is increasing,
and it has become a global issue.
Most of the marine litter are plastic products like fishing lines and food packages.
According to Ministry of Environment,
no less than 8,000,000 tons of plastic waste is estimated to enter the ocean every year,
and 20,000-60,000 tons is from Japan.
These marine litter plastics are affecting the lives of creatures in the sea.
For example, a sperm whale with close to 6 kilometers of trash in its body was found at an Indonesian coast.
Also when internal organs of 102 dead turtles were investigated,
synthetic particles such as micro plastics were found from all individuals.
It isn’t revealed whether these trash are the direct cause of death,
but there should be some damages on these sea creatures.
It’s said that plastic bags account for only about 2 % of marine trash.
But I hope that it will be a good opportunity to change our consciousness to the environment
by charging for shopping bags in Japan.
Let’s use reusable bags!

Since traffic fatalities are on the rise, drivers’ tailgating has been a big topic in Japan recently.
The Japanese word “Aori Unten” had no clear definitions so far.
However it was prescribed for the first time as “interference in driving”.
A cabinet order of the revised Road Traffic Act was carried out at the end of June, 2020 in Japan.
Under this law, penalties for interference were tightened.
Heard the word “Aori Unten”, a lot of Japanese think the low is only for cars.
But this is also applied to bicycles, because these are legally classified into “lightweight vehicles”.
The cabinet order prescribes the interference driving by a bicycle as the unsafe act.
Specifically, when people did the following 7 acts to other cars and bicycles, etc.,
they are possible to be exposed.
* Driving backwards and blocking course up

* Sudden change of lanes
* Unnecessary heavy braking

Narita International Airport

Narita International Airport Corp. announced on July 14
that the airport would reopen the runway B, one of its two runways, on July 22.
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, it had been closed since April 12
with a decrease in demand of passenger flights.
The airport operators expected a recovery of demand focusing on the domestic flights,
so they decided to reopen the runway B from 6:00am of July 22.
The airline companies seems to bring back more domestic flights in August.
It doesn’t go down well with me since the number of infected people is increasing again.
On one hand I hope Narita Airport to get back the vitality,
but on the other hand I’m scared with the situation somehow.

Some people give up immediately.
