On October 2, 2021, the first Saturday after the state of emergency was fully lifted, I went to Ginza(major shopping area in Tokyo) for private use.
Even though it was in the morning, the place was packed with many people.
The pedestrian mall was reopened in the afternoon, and the area was even more crowded.
There were so many people that I wanted to finish my business and leave, but it was a beautiful day and I wanted to have a drink.
So, for no reason at all, I moved the location from Ginza to Akihabara.
But it was just as crowded with people there as it was like in Ginza.
I really wanted to eat and drink the red ginger and beer at name of restaurant Kushikatsu Tanaka.
I couldn’t wait until night and entered the restaurant at 4:00 p.m. There were only four customers including myself.
I thought that since it was right after the declaration of the state of emergency was lifted, no one would come yet, but after 5:00 p.m., customers suddenly started arriving and the restaurant was suddenly full.
The place became lively and had an izakaya-like(tavern pub) atmosphere.
Even though there were acrylic panels for separation purpose, everyone was talking loudly.
If I relax, I’m sure the sixth wave will come again, so I’m going to keep my head up.

Autumn Depression

Every year in October, I tend to feel down.
Maybe it’s because of the anniversary of my family member’s death in October, but I think I might be suffering from “autumn depression”.
What is autumn depression?
Due to the decrease in daylight hours in autumn compared to summer, it becomes more difficult to produce a brain substance called “serotonin”.
The decrease in serotonin seems to make us more vulnerable to stress.
Depression（melancholia ) sick should closely related with Serotonin.
Strong stress slows down the function of serotonin, so drugs that increase serotonin levels are used to treat depression.
I researched preventative measures for fall depression.
1) Consciously expose yourself to sunlight
2) Exercise regularly.
3) Increase the amount of lactic acid bacteria in your diet (fermented foods, etc.)
To summarize…
It means jogging naked in the sunshine while eating kimuchi (spicy korean pickles)every day.
At any rate, I think I’ll dash off and run so as not to get arrested.

New 500YEN Coin

On October 1, the Ministry of Finance announced that the new 500 yen coin will be issued on November 1.
“The mint bureau has already started production and plans to issue 200 million of them in 2021.
The new coin will spread through bank.”
Since there are about 5 billion of the current 500 yen coins in circulation, it may be a while before we get a chance to pick up the new coins when they are issued.
These days, I’m finally getting used to cashless payments.
For this reason, I am not very happy about having more coins in my wallet, but I will have more opportunities to use cash to make change in order to meet the new 500 yen sooner.

Due to the new Corona, Whole society citizens couldn’t go out freely and had less opportunity to spend money.
When the situation improves, the behavior of using the money that was not available is called “revenge consumption.”
The Bank of Japan estimates that the money that could not be spent on the Corona disaster is $1,400 per person.
For society as a whole, the total amount of lost consumption opportunities has risen to $175 billion.
In a survey asking if people would like to consume revenge once the corona settles down, the results were as follows.
No. 1 “Domestic travel” (22.7%)
No. 2 “Gathering together for dinner” (13.0%)
No. 3 “Overseas travel” (9.7%)
The first thing that comes to mind for revenge consumption is travel.
I think it will be great to enjoy the hot spring while looking at the autumn leaves and the snowy landscape in winter.
Also, now that there are strict restrictions on foreign tourists entering the country, I think this is a good time to travel around the country at a leisurely pace.
With the reopening of GO TO Travel, why not take the opportunity to go back to your hometown and stay at a local hotel of a higher grade while sightseeing the local area?

Plant Quarantine Officer

I am still a novice ( beginner ) in our company.
In order to better understand my job, I am watching and studying videos from shipping companies and customs offices.

This is the official channel of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), where the mascot of the Plant Protection Station, “Peekyun”, and the plant protection officers provide fun information about plant protection.
You can see how they work and what goes on behind the scenes.
It’s not serious and uptight, but surreal and interesting.

Along the way, there is something called an incision survey.
This is the process of cutting open fruit and other items brought in from overseas by passengers to check for parasitic insect larvae.
In order to determine whether the larvae found are pests or not, they need to become adults, so we raise the larvae in a breeding room.
I extremely hate and dislikable, so I shuddered when I watched it.
I can’t help it if I’m in a room or have found something, but it’s hard to find it on my own.
I was also impressed by the times when veteran plant protection officers talked about their work memories.

Along the way, you will hear about the quarantine of grain ships at the port.
I heard that they jumped into the piles of grain in the hold to do quarantine work.
In the photo, it looks like an ant being swallowed by an ant hell.
They said it was very difficult in the summer.
Just thinking about it makes me feel faint.
However, this is also important in order to keep pests out of Japan and to eat safe and secure food.
I would like to pay my respects to the quarantine officers.

Toothpaste

The other day, we went to the dentist together for our children’s regular checkups.
It’s a children’s dental clinic, but when I walked in after check-in, I thought this was a children’s cafe. The room looked like a children’s cafe.
As soon as he sat down, my eldest son flicked on something that came with a light that illuminated his teeth.
When I peeked in, I saw that he was watching an animation on his iPad while having he teeth washed.
This is when doctor pasting the toothpaste.
The doctor asked, “What flavor do you want? Lemon? Apple? Grape? Gargarikun soda? Cola?” doctor asked the child.
I couldn’t help but ask, “Doctor, what did you just say now ? ” I asked excitedly.
Me: “Do you sell that toothpaste here?”
Doctor: “No, it’s only for a limited time, so we don’t sell it.”
Just to be sure, I checked the drugstore on my way home, but there was none.

These days, brushing my teeth has become a fun time.
